Orangewood Originally from Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, Maighread Neligan started writing songs at the age of 15, a year after she started playing guitar. She continued writing and playing throughout college, involved in many bands. One of these bands ‘Hermit’s Dream’ reached the regional finals of the Hot Press/Bacardi Unplugged band of the year.

After spending some time in the States, Maighread returned and relocated to Galway, where she currently resides. From here she formed her current band ‘Orangewood’. Orangewood slowly built up a following on the original band scene, culminating in a place in the Heineken Green Energy regional finals. As a mainstay of this scene Orangewood were chosen to be on the first Origin Records album " To Boldly Go". Two songs were featured on the album "The One" and "Main Attraction". These received good press attention from such papers as "The Sun", "The Sunday Times", "The City Tribune", " The Galway Advertiser" & "Magpie Magazine".

On these basis of this press Maighread has received attention from various record companies, including BMG. Orangewood’s music has recently received airplay from stations such as 2FM, Galway Bay FM and Flirt FM.

A year later Orangewood were again asked to be on a new Origin Records album called "New Horizons". The song "This is 4 you", was featured on this newly released album.

Aside from her band commitments, Maighread regularly plays solo concerts. These have included support slots with "Kristin Hersh", "Adam Snyder (Mercury Rev)", "The Holmes Bros.", "Juliet Turner", "Matt Johnson (The The)", "Nina Hynes" and "Jane Siberry".
